Life Story
Nelly Tan, 76, of San Francisco was born on December 10, 1944 in Rangoon, Myanmar. She was given birth by parents Kim Shu and Sick Hong and was the eldest of 8 children. She was married to Hlatin Sekleng Tan on July 4, 1970; they were married for 50 years. In Rangoon, Nelly worked as an English tutor and a sales lady at Sum Hin Company, a record shop. In San Francisco, she worked in Environmental Services at Saint Mary’s Hospital and received a 40-year distinction. Nelly enjoyed sewing, cooking, bargain shopping and her Pomeranians. She was a selfless and humble woman who always put her family and pets first. She overcame cancer in 2009 and lived fearlessly above a kidney disease and other health conditions for several years before she passed away peacefully on December 19, 2020 after a stroke.

Children: Raymond, Rita
Grandchildren: Linda, Ryder
Siblings: Jeffrey, Lily, Ken Peng, Anne, Danny, Linda, Richard
Pets: Count Chocula
and other family and friends.
