Neil V. MahoneyDecember 1, 1927 – October 3, 2015Neil Mahoney of South San Francisco passed away peacefully with family surrounding him on October 3, 2015. A loving and caring father of Tamara Mahoney, Jeannine (Scott) Sexton, and Sheril (Dave) Ackley. Grandfather to Katelyn Cresta and Michael, Nicholas, and Gianna Ackley. Neil was born in Sacramento and graduated from Sacramento High School class of 1946 and went on to study at Sacramento City College. He served his country in the United States Armed Forces. He was a member of the Bay City Lodge No. 71 Independent Order of Odd Fellows, San Francisco Caper Cutters, and the Dolphin South End Runners Club. He truly loved sports and consistently cheered on his two favorite teams SF Giants and New York Yankees. Neil’s generosity, quick wit, and sense of humor will be missed by all who were fortunate to be a part of his life. Neil will be missed by all whose lives he touched.A Memorial service will be held Friday, October 23 at 11:00am at Skylawn Memorial Park. Located at Highway 92 and Skyline Blvd, San Mateo, California. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stanford/VA Alzheimer’s Research Center of California in his honor.
