Nathan J. Zeiger's Obituary
Nathan Jefferson Zeiger, age 22 months of Belmont, passed away at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto, California on May 7, 2010. He was born on July 4, 2008, in Palo Alto to Courtney Adams and Andrew Zeiger. Nathan loved bubbles, bath time and any kind of ball, monkeys and his beloved Baby Can Read DVDs. Although not yet two, he had figured out how to turn on and operate the DVD player. An intrepid eater, Nathan favored adventurous treats like edamame and seaweed salad, peas and avocado. Green might have been his favorite color. Courtney and Andrew lovingly outfitted a dream nursery in shades of chocolate and sky; still, Nathan never spent a single night in his top-of-the-line Pottery Barn crib, because he much preferred the cozy company of mom and dad and their big, comfy bed. An aspiring artist, Nathan had a penchant for scribbling on walls-and an uncanny knack for producing writing implements seemingly out of thin air. His masterpieces were created with either hand indiscriminately; perhaps he would have been ambidextrous like his sister. Many things made little Nathan giggle: The word "ribbit", hurtling rocks into the koi pond, singing and dancing with his three devoted siblings. His father nicknamed the thundering echo of his wobbly walk "happy feet" and recorded the precious sound so that they would always remember it. Nathan was just learning to speak, but he had no problem getting his point across. As his mom likes to say, you never had to wonder what Nathan wanted. Nathan is survived by his parents Courtney and Andrew, and by his siblings Martin, Avery and Ben. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Nathan's name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF.org).
