Naresh Mehrotra's Obituary
Naresh Shanker Mehrotra was born on September 26, 1924 to Mrs. Patrani Mehrotra and Mr. Brij Narayan Mehrotra in Kanpur, India. His higher secondary schooling at Annie Besant in Varanasi, India had a huge impact in forming his personality and character. There he learned “boundaries are no bar”. He always followed his heart fearlessly with unwavering principles, conviction and passion. He firmly believed in education and strived to provide the highest and best education to his children. He was instrumental in shaping the lives of his children. He was admired for his strong persuasive skills and determination in accomplishing his goals and in breaking down those “boundaries”.Naresh met Sunder Khanna in Delhi, India while he was studying at St. Stephen’s College. He married Sunder on May 18, 1944. He spent most of his working life in Kanpur and Delhi. He and his wife migrated to USA from India in early 1981. He first resided in Jacksonville and Chicago then moved to California in mid-1981. He was an avid traveler and loved nature, both hobbies he explored thoroughly during his car travels, between Jacksonville (Florida), Chicago (Illinois) and Bay Area (California). During one of his visits to Jacksonville, Florida, he established his business of importing and selling brass goods from India. This business, he quite resourcefully conducted for several years not only in the three states but also in other states while travelling. In California, he lived in San Jose, Milpitas, Los Altos Hills and Clear Lake before settling down in Atherton for the last seven years of his life.Mr. Naresh Shanker Mehrotra passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2013 in Atherton, California at the age of 88. He was a beloved husband of Sunder and a loving father of Pramod (wife: Ranjana), Shashi (husband: Suman), Anu (husband: Dinesh) and Sanjay (wife: Sangeeta). He was extremely proud of his four granddaughters ( Manisha, Janiki, Mahncy and Malika) and three grandsons (Oumang, Sonam and Pranab). He was the cherished great-grandfather of Avani, Amber and Ishaan (parents: Manisha and Manish), a fond uncle of many and a friend to many more. His family will fondly cherish his memories and carry on his legacy.
