Naotosi Makino (aka. YooJoon Kim)'s Obituary
55 years old when he died on April 14th 2018 at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto California from a traumatic brain injury as a result of an accident in which a car hit him while walking his bicycle across the road in a crosswalk on his way to work on April 2nd in San Carlos California. Son of Ikuo Makino (aka Taemyong Kim) and Hirono Makino (aka Kachun Cha)Younger brother to Julie Behrens (aka Yoshie Makino and Hoojoong Kim)Older brother to Hironobu Makino (aka Kaesoo Kim) Graduated with the degree of Associate of Science, Electrical Science from Sinclair Community College in Dayton Ohio in June 1997 Graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University in December 1999. Hired by Nikon Precision Inc. in September 2000 and worked there his entire career after graduating from university. Born and raised in Osaka Japan, moved to Cincinnati Ohio to study English as a Second Language at Xavier University, moved to Dayton Ohio to study Electrical Science at Sinclair Community College, and moved to Columbus Ohio to Study Electrical Engineering at The Ohio State University. Moved to northern California to join Nikon, and settled down in Millbrae California Enjoyed staying fit by building exercise into his daily routine, biking to the train and on to the office. Also enjoyed computers, skiing, cars, watching movies on the big screen, and taking photos at many events and special occasions while traveling around world with his digital camera collection from Nikon. Was a dedicated worker and always considerate to those around him. Also by donating blood as often as possible, helped many others who he never knew. Survived by his mother Hirono Makino and brother Hironobu Makino in Osaka Japan; his sister, Julie Behrens, and her husband, Jon Behrens, in Cincinnati Ohio; and his only nephew, Leonard Behrens, in Hoboken New Jersey who is following in his uncles footsteps studying Electrical Engineering. Predeceased by his Father, Ikuo Makino. Visitation for friends and co-workers at Skylawn Memorial Park on Thursday April 19th, 2018 from 1:00-5:00pm.Funeral will be held in Osaka Japan at Shi-Tennoji Temple the following week. Thanks are given to all who have supported Naotoshi Makino all his life, growing up in Japan, during studies in Ohio, and throughout his career at Nikon in California.
