Muriel Stich's Obituary
Muriel Stich was born in Syracuse, New York on July 11, 1919 to Philip Edelstein and Bluma Cornell. She was the second of two children born to the Cornell's and was the younger sister of the late Leonard Cornell. Muriel received a bachelor's degree in economics and special arts from Syracuse University. Upon her graduation, Muriel moved to Washington, D.C. where she played a large role in the War Effort of World War II. Throughout her life, Muriel acted as the leader of many Women's organizations and was always politically active. In 1945, Muriel married the love of her life, Dr. Alfred B. Stich. Together they had two children; Dr. Peter Stich and Geoffrey E. Stich. In 1954, Dr. and Mrs. Stich moved to Hillsborough, Ca. where they have lived for the past 60 years. With the birth of her children, Muriel focused her attention on tending to her growing family. In her spare time, Muriel enjoyed playing Mah Jongg and Bridge. Muriel is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years; Dr. Alfred B. Stich, Sons Geoffrey E. Stich of Hillsborough, Ca. and Dr. Peter (Kate) Stich of Troutdale, Or; and one granddaughter Allison Stich of Troutdale, Or. She was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Bluma Cornell and her brother, Leonard Cornell. Private services will be held in her honor at Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park in San Mateo, Ca.
