Mirna Franco's Obituary
Mirna Virginia Castillo Medal de Franco was called home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2026, at the age of 89. She passed peacefully at her home in Martinez, California, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mirna was born on January 26, 1937, in Nagarote, Nicaragua, to Alfredo Castillo and Virginia Medal de Castillo. One of five children, she learned strength and responsibility at an early age. After losing her mother when she was just nine years old, Mirna helped care for her younger siblings, embracing a role far beyond her years. The devotion, resilience, and selflessness she showed then would remain hallmarks of her character throughout her life.
Mirna met the love of her life, Bismarck Franco and together they built a life grounded in faith, perseverance, and devotion to family. Their journey eventually brought them from Nicaragua to the United States in pursuit of the American dream—a dream they achieved through hard work, determination, and unwavering commitment to one another.
Mirna was diligent, determined, and always eager to learn. With an entrepreneurial spirit, she successfully owned and operated several businesses over the years. Even in retirement, she remained active and engaged, pursuing opportunities in real estate and continuing to embrace new challenges with curiosity and resolve.
More than any accomplishment, Mirna was most proud of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose guidance, encouragement, and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Her life was a testament to perseverance, faith, and unconditional love. The values she lived by and the example she set will continue to inspire her family for generations to come.
Mirna is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Bismarck Franco, who preceded her in death. Together they now rest in the presence of the Lord whom they faithfully served throughout their lives.
She is survived by her five children: Reyna Mendieta (Peter), Bismarck Franco (Victoria), Nina Quinteros (*Jose, Predeceased), Mary Franco (Rafael), and Carlos Franco (Alicia); eleven grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
While her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in knowing that she is at peace and reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. Her faith, strength, and love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Skylawn Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life will follow on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Skylawn Memorial Park.

Mirna nació el 26 de enero de 1937 en Nagarote, Nicaragua, hija de Alfredo Castillo y Virginia Medal de Castillo. Fue una de cinco hermanos y aprendió desde temprana edad el valor de la fortaleza y la responsabilidad. Tras la pérdida de su madre cuando apenas tenía nueve años, Mirna ayudó a cuidar de sus hermanos menores, asumiendo un papel mucho más allá de su edad. Incluso durante su jubilación, permaneció activa y comprometida, explorando oportunidades en bienes raíces y enfrentando nuevos desafíos con curiosidad y determinación.
Más que cualquier logro personal, Mirna se sentía profundamente orgullosa de su familia. Fue una esposa, madre, abuela y bisabuela dedicada, cuya guía, apoyo y fe inquebrantable dejaron una huella imborrable en todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla.
Su vida fue un testimonio de perseverancia, fe y amor incondicional. Los valores que practicó y el ejemplo que dejó continuarán inspirando a su familia por muchas generaciones.
Mirna se reúne ahora en el cielo con su amado esposo, Bismarck Franco, quien la precedió en la muerte. Juntos descansan en la presencia del Señor, a quien sirvieron fielmente durante toda su vida.
Le sobreviven sus cinco hijos: Reyna Mendieta (Peter), Bismarck Franco (Victoria), Nina Quinteros (* Jose, Precedido en la muerte) Mary Franco (Rafael) y Carlos Franco (Alicia); once nietos; y veintidós bisnietos.
Aunque su familia lamenta profundamente su partida, encuentra consuelo en saber que ella descansa en paz y se ha reunido con sus seres queridos que partieron antes que ella. Su fe, fortaleza y amor permanecerán para siempre en los corazones de quienes la conocieron y la amaron.
El velorio se llevará a cabo el sábado 27 de junio de 2026, de 3:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m., en Skylawn Memorial Park. La Celebración de Vida se realizará el domingo 28 de junio de 2026, a las 12:00 p.m., también en Skylawn Memorial Park.
