Miriam Martinez Corpuz's Obituary
Miriam was born in Manila, Philippines on February 23, 1937. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with highest honors, she worked as a Chief Chemist at the Canada Dry plant and later at the Cafe Puro plant. In 1974, Miriam and her family immigrated to the United States where they settled in Daly City, CA. She initially worked as an employee benefits supervisor for a major financial institution. Afterwards, she became an accounting professional and retired officially as a tax accountant. Miriam was an active parishioner at Holy Angels Church in Colma where she thoroughly enjoyed being part of the church choir and cherished the friendships she made along the way. On July 19, 2013, Miriam passed away peacefully after battling a myriad of health complications. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. A generous and strong willed woman, Miriam persevered in taking care of her family at all times. She will be truly missed by everyone who knew her. Miriam is survived by her son Vill and his wife Julie, son Gabriel and his wife Racquel, and daughter Anne Marie. She has four grandchildren: Spencer, Timothy, Kristen, and Kathryn. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life honoring Miriam on Wednesday, July 24, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Skylawn Funeral Home in San Mateo. Funeral services will be held the following day, July 25th, starting with a 10:00 am mass at Holy Angels Church that will be followed by her internment at the Skylawn Memorial Park.
