Mingzhen Yang's Obituary
Mingzhen Yang was born in rural Jiangsu, China, on November 12, 1946. In 1970, she graduated with a chemistry degree from Nanjing University, one of the top universities in China, then went to work in Taizhou. She quickly became the project lead and was introduced by co-workers to Jingquan Cheng. They got married in 1973, and a few years later, had their first child, a daughter, which was followed by a son two years later. In 1984, she joined Southeast University in Nanjing to do research and teach Chemistry. In 1993, she moved with her family to Tucson, Arizona in the United States, where she made many friends. In 2006, she moved to Virginia, and continued her friendliness in a new neighborhood. In 2011, she moved to California to take care of her new grandchildren, raising two cousins who were only two weeks apart in age. A grandson and another grand-daughter were quickly added to her care. In 2014, she was diagnosed with cancer, but that did not prevent her from laughing often. She has always looked for the best in others and given the best she had, in everything that she did. She will be missed by all those who she touched with her compassion and strength.
