Mina Zen's Obituary
Mina was born in Taipei on June 27, 1956 in the year of the monkey and is the younger sister of Hannah and Viola. She attended Zai Xin elementary school, then the prestigious Taipei Girl’s High School (Ã¥Å?'ä¸â?¬Ã¥¥³), earning top marks. This enabled her to attend Georgetown University, where she majored in business. She was the Queen of the disco scene and made many friends, always the life of the party, and ready at any time to flash her charming smile with her dimples.Mina and Paul met while attending Georgetown University. They were married in 1980.Mina worked very hard both in and outside of the office. Raising two feisty boys was more than a full time job but she relished the challenge. She was ever ready to take on the role of the teacher, and instilled in them a lifelong appreciation for education, Chinese language and culture, the arts, fashion, and food. Her recipes are famous within Zen circles, and her boys’ highly tuned taste buds are a testament to her tender loving care. Her face would exude pride and joy when her friends complimented her sons on their accomplishments. When she did occasionally find time for herself, she could be found on the golf course and in the company of lifelong friends. Mina also loved to travel with her friends and family. She loved sightseeing and shopping all over the world. Her travels took her all over the world from Bangkok to Paris and Florence to Tokyo. When she was diagnosed with lung cancer, the outpouring of support and encouragement from Mina’s friends and family showed her how much everyone loved her, and gave her the resolve she needed to battle the disease. She underwent many cycles of chemotherapy, in addition to radiation therapy. Her courage and resolve exhibited during these difficult treatments were truly amazing, even in the eyes of medical professionals. Not surprisingly she was a favorite of the excellent doctors and nurses at Stanford hospital. After the disease progressed and modern medicine had run its course, she made her peace with God and gave herself over to his divine Will and Compassion. Now, her spirit rests easy in the Lord’s embrace, and she is carefree in the company of angels. She passed away as she lived–cheerful, graceful, and loving to the end. Today I am healedPerhaps not the way you had hoped forPrayed for, Waited forBut I'm in a glorious new bodyFree of pain, full of new strengthFree to run and dance in placeWhere God himself wipes my tears awayImmersed in love, joy, and peaceThat we have a mere taste ofDuring our time on earthIn the presence of my God and Savior, Jesus ChristWho loves me more than his own lifeKnow that today I am healed
