Mimi Li-Sun Shen's Obituary
Mimi Li-Sun Shen, 75, passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2017. She spent her final days with her loved ones by her side. She led a remarkable life and her spirit prevailed despite the onset of breast cancer.Mimi was born in 1942 in Jiangsu, China to parents Mary and Robert Sr. and later moved to Taipei, Taiwan. She immigrated to the United States in the 1960s and became a long-time resident of San Carlos, CA. She earned degrees from Shih Hsin University and Notre Dame de Namur University. Her passions included cooking, gardening and caring for her pug dogs. She took pleasure in the happiness of others, oftentimes placing their interests ahead of her own. A beloved mother, her dedication to her children eclipsed all else. She reveled in their accomplishments, hurt with their sorrows, and felt joy in spending time with them.Mimi left a legacy of her love and perseverance. Through good times and bad, she sacrificed greatly and overcame much adversity to ensure the well-being of her family. Her spirit of resiliency and compassion saw them through more challenges than most will ever know. This type of selflessness is rare, and this type of perseverance is beyond reproach. These are but a few reasons why she is loved and respected by her family and friends, and will be greatly missed. We are grateful to share both the joy in the gift that her life was to us, and the pain that her passing brings. In sharing the joy and the pain together, may we lessen the pain and remember more clearly the joy. Words cannot express our pride and love for her. It was an honor and pleasure to share the presence of her life. She remains an inspiration and eternal light in our lives. She is survived by her two sons, Alexander and Edward, as well as her relatives and friends.Private services will be held at Skylawn Memorial Park. We are deeply grateful for your outpouring of love, prayers, and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
