Mike McDivit's Obituary
Mike McDivit died March 27, 2016 at the age of 74 from a debilitating neurological disease. He was born August 3, 1941 on the South Side of Chicago to Virginia (Guy) and Joseph McDivit. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS degree. Mike is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carleen of Burlingame. He was the father of 5 children, Clare Mark and Bethie Scanlan, of Chicago, Joseph (deceased), Anna McDivit Mizzell (Jay) of LaJolla and Matthew of San Francisco and 6 Grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Joseph of Naples, Florida and his sister Virginia of Chicago, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Hess of Long Beach, California.He had been in advertising all of his life working for International Agencies in Chicago, Australia and San Francisco. Anyone who knew him was infected with his charm, easy going personality and quick wit. He did not know a stranger. Always with a big welcoming smile, he was a gregarious man who enjoyed life.Mike was active in his Church, The Movie Group and enjoyed playing tennis, golf, running and watching sports. He was also an active member of the BPAC from the south side of Chicago, friends since elementary school.The family would like to express deep appreciation to the staff of Mills Estate Villa and Mission Hospice for their dedicated care and support.A Memorial will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Burlingame on April 9, 2016 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Mission Hospice, San Mateo or Trinity Lutheran Church, Burlingame.
