Mike Reid and I joined the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office in 1960 and 1961 respectfully. Mike pursued a career in Corrections becoming a Jai Deputy Sheriff, Sergeant, Lieutenant becoming involved in Jail management, the Commander of the Women’s Correctional Center-Honor Camp, the Work release program and the Work furlough Facility. Always concerned about the welfare of his staff. Mike volunteered as a founding father with four others that helped to develop the first Union in the county that represented Law Enforcement Officers. It was called the Organization of Deputy Sheriff’s of San Mateo County. Resulting in pay and benifit improvements equal for all female employee’s as the males. Salaries raised to the level of the top nine Bay Area County Law Enforcement Agencies. Thank you Sheriff’s Lieutenant Michael Reid. May you rest in Peace. Ron Radetich-San Ramon, Ca.
