Mellie Bisco Angeles' Obituary
Mellie was born in the Philippines on January 6, 1935 to Rebecca and Emilio San Luis Angeles. When Mellie was immigrating to the United States from the Philippines, her brothers sent her a plane ticket. However, she wanted a more memorable experience, and requested she travel by cruise ship. She danced and partied her way to the United States on a 30-day cruise. She departed the Philippine Islands in early October of 1967 to Hong Kong, and finally arrived in Hawaii 2 weeks later. She continued to San Francisco to meet her family. While on her cruise to her new home, she had her first cocktail, a “Pina Colada” which remained her favorite cocktail for the rest of her life. She was also known to enjoy an ice-cold Sapporo Beer on occasion.
Mellie worked as a nurse’s assistant when she first arrived in the United States. She eventually changed careers and worked in various service roles at San Francisco International Airport. She worked at the airport for more than 40 years. She loved her job and the people, where she retired in her early eighties.
Mellie lived in San Francisco for many years, and eventually moved to Pacifica, CA. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, bowling, and playing tennis. Mellie loved watching TV; game shows were her favorite. She was an avid sports fan, her favorite teams were the San Francisco 49ers, Giants and Golden State Warriors. She had a great sense of humor and was quick witted until the very end. She loved her dog Wolfy, who was always by her side.
Mellie is survived by several nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces. Her siblings, Jonathan 1944, Renaldo 05/03/1997, Franklin 7/5/1999, Emilo 3/24/2020 and Rhobin 1/28/2021 all predeceased her.
