Melissa L. Yu's Obituary
Melissa L. Yu of Cupertino, CA passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, in her sleep on Saturday, November 26th in the midst of a battle with Lymphoma. Melissa was born in Shanghai, China on November 21, 1940. She later attended high school in Hong Kong before heading to the US for her undergraduate and Masters Degree in Chemistry at Clark University. While in graduate school, she met her husband, Steve K. Yu. They were married for 47 years. Melissa chose to be a full time mom rather than pursue a career in Chemistry. When her youngest was approaching middle-school, she revitalized her career working part time jobs in bookkeeping before eventually transitioning to a full time job in Quality Control in the semiconductor industry. She enjoyed going to work and opted to stay in a corporate job even after Steve retired. After working in Quality Control for over 20 years, with the majority of that time being spent at Xilinx Corporation, she finally retired. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, knitting, volunteering at church and watching Chinese Soap Operas. Funeral services will be held at Skylawn Memorial Park (http://www.skylawn.com) at 10am on Friday, December 9, 2011. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Lymphoma Society in her name: Melissa L. Yu, 10299 McKlintock Ln., Cupertino, CA 95014http://www.lls.org/#/waystohelp/donate/donateonline/ Melissa is survived by her husband Steve and her three children Ellen Yu Borkowski, Karen Yu and Ronald Yu and six grandchildren
