Mei Sheung Yiu 姚美嫦 11/20/1937 – 6/13/2014After a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, which was originally diagnosed in 1990, Mei Sheung is finally at peace. She was born in China to Yiu Cheung Hung and Wong Yan. Mei Sheung was the youngest of the family. She had 2 brothers, Yiu Kai, Yiu Ji and 1 sister, Yiu Tai. She was preceded in death by her late husband Henry Lai and her two brothers, Yiu Kai and Yiu Ji. She and her late husband immigrated with their six children from Hong Kong to Santa Monica, California in 1982.Mei Sheung was a mother to Mary Yuk Wah Lai Nguyen, Nancy Chi Wah Lai, Annie Po Wah Lai Tang, Stephen Cheong Shun Lai, Robert Cheong Ngai Lai, and Alexander Cheong Wai Lai; a mother-in-law to Loc Nguyen, Wilfred Tang, Teresa Wu Lai, Bea Tantayanubutr Lai, and Karenea Peterson Lai; and a grandmother to Lance, Luke, Aliana, Alyssa, Ethan, Maximilien, Katelyn, Kailey, and Austin.She was a very devoted mother to her children. After immigrating to the U.S., she took on a housekeeper job for 8 years until she retired in 1990. Her family was the center of her life.Services will be held at Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park in San Mateo, California on Friday, June 27, 2014 from 3:00pm to 5:30pm, and the Funeral Service on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 10:00am in the Pacific Chapel.
