Mary Glenn's Obituary
Mary L. Glenn Mary 'Lee' Glenn, 80 years young, passed away in her home on December 31st, 2011. She was born in New Jersey in 1931 to Frank and Edith Lanning. Childhood memories included aspiring to be an ice skater, riding horses and her bike, and especially trips to the New Jersey shore. Her family moved to Ohio and then to Virginia. Lee graduated from The Beard High School in 1949. She attended Richmond Professional Institute in Virginia and received her Business Administration certificate in 1952. In 1953 she married Richard Glenn . Their children are Richard, Leslie, and Matt. They lived briefly in Illinois prior to relocating to California. As a mom, her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. As an 'empty nester' she was employed in banking and enjoyed traveling to her children's homes and other worldly destinations. Later, she was known as the 'cat lady'. Other hobbies included card-playing, reading, and solving crossword puzzles. Lee is preceded in death by her parents and oldest son. She is survived by her daughter, youngest son, and five grandchildren, Sara, Jim, Jessica, Amy, and Kristin. The family-led private service will be on Friday, January 13th at Skylawn Memorial Park. Lee's children will be hosting a Celebration of Life service in her home on January 15th. Lee can best be summed up as loving mother and friend. And, finally, 'Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn'! Because it's 5:00 somewhere!
