Martin Ocampo's Obituary
Martin Ocampo at the age of 74 passed away at his home in San Francisco, CA from mesothelioma on Sunday July 2, 2017.He was born January 14th, 1943, in Mexico City to Raymundo and Maria Elena Ocampo. Martin came to the United States at the age of 19 in search of a better future. He attended trade school and became an electrician. He joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 6 in 1968. Martin mostly resided in San Francisco although he spent a portion of the year in Rosarito, Baja California, especially after he retired in 2005. His first marriage was to Clara Luz Zambrano , 1967-1972 becoming stepfather to Edgar Melgar and Mayra Melgar-Torres. With Clara Luz he had a daughter and a son, Yvonne and Josue. His second marriage, 1973-1980 was to Maria Zucconi with whom he had a son, Cesar. In 1989 he began family with Zeferina Ramirez that has come to include Maria Isabel, Gloria Elena, Daniela Andrea, Adriana Lucia and Martin David. Martin never forgot his native land nor his family there, he travelled back and forth regularly sharing his prosperity in the United States with many people in Mexico. His success in this country inspired other members of his family to make the same effort. Martin enjoyed watching soccer, travelling, listening to a variety of musical styles and having a good time with friends and family.Martin is survived by those named above with the exception of Clara Luz Ocampo who passed away in May of 2014. Martin is also survived by his sons in law ; Mario Santana (Married to Yvonne Santana), Edgar Aquino,(Married to Isabel Aquino), Joel Diaz (Husband of Lucia Diaz). Daughters in law are Diana Ocampo (married to Josue) and Mellani Ocampo (married to Cesar). Grandchildren and step grandchildren include Diego Ocampo, Mateo Ocampo, Ruben Ocampo, Olivia Ocampo, Noah Ocampo , Cristina Ocasio, Rachel Torres, Jeremiah Torres, Edgar Melgar Jr., Adriana Melgar, David Melgar, Julian Melgar, Alexander Melgar, Emmanuel Aquino and Sarah Aquino. Martin is also survived by many brothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.A memorial service will be held Monday July 17th, 2:00-4:00, the inurnment service and reception will be held on Tuesday July 18th, 11:00. Both at Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
