Mark Moon's Obituary
It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mark Moon who
left us on March 16, 2025 surrounded by those he loved. He was 68 years old.
Mark is survived by his wife Lori Moon, his sons Christopher Moon and Nicholas Moon, his
brother Keith Moon, his sister-in-law Sylvia Tso, his nephew Ryan Moon, and his sister-inlaw Lisa Kawahara.
Mark was born in San Francisco on October 8, 1956, to his loving parents, Edward and May
Moon. He was raised in San Mateo, CA and attended Aragon High School. Mark attended
San Francisco State University and earned degrees in biochemistry and molecular biology
in 1982. He then went on to earn his doctorate from the UCSF School of Pharmacy in 1986.
His career as a financial consultant and investment specialist began in 1989 and he held
positions at Shearson Lehman Hutton, Charles Schwab, Wells Fargo and lastly Bank of
America/Merrill Edge. While he found success as a financial advisor, his greatest
professional joy came from pharmacy. Mark returned to this role in 2015 and was most
recently working for Nob Hill/Raleys in Hollister, CA.
Mark met Lori, the love of his life, in 1973 and they married in 1987. They built an amazing
life together filled with unwavering love, support and devotion for one another. He was a
dedicated, attentive and caring father to sons Christopher and Nicholas and their beloved
dog Kalea.
Mark was a sociable, easy going and approachable soul who had an innate ability to
connect with people. His vibrant spirit was evident in every facet of his life and his kind
heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Outside of work, Mark’s passions
included cooking and barbecuing, especially his well-loved smoked pulled pork. He had an
enduring love of Corvettes and motorcycles, and in recent years, travel with friends and
family.
He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, brother and uncle, and
a steadfast friend who will be deeply missed. His kindness, generosity, and friendship
shaped the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
