Mario F. Ubaldo's Obituary
Mario Ubaldo was born in the Philippines on September 25, 1930. Affectionately known as “Uncle Mario” to most, he was the youngest son of Clara and Gregorio Ubaldo. He along with his family and many other Filipinos suffered hardships during World War II. His future changed course dramatically when he bravely traveled to America with his sister Antonia and her family in 1966 to join his mother. For many years he resided with his mother and his sisters. Later in life Uncle Mario lived independently and worked many jobs where he was known for providing excellent customer service. He earned a reputation for never missing a day of work and taking great pride in every task set before him. Uncle Mario was a sweet and innocent soul whose knack for storytelling, painting, and remembering facts (such as every family members exact birth date) kept his many nieces and nephews riveted. We all took turns sitting silently at his feet as he intricately wove tales which cast his family members as the main characters fighting evil empires with laser swords. His imagination and generosity made him the beloved companion for many of us during childhood. Innocent to the end, Uncle Mario was truly a child of God.Uncle Mario passed away in his home at the age of 84 during the early morning hours of December 15th. He is survived by his older sisters Consuelo Resella and Antonia Padua, his younger half-sisters Geraldine Lanier and Vicky Leyson, his nieces and nephews (Rhod, Dina, Dita, Ben, Clarissa, David, Aaron, Joe, Thad, Mary & Peter) and dozens of grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. He was greeted in heaven by many family members who loved him dearly during his time here including his Mother Clara, Father Gregorio, Brother’s-in-law Ben and Pete, Stepfather Primo and many others.
