Maria Lourdes A. Abasta's Obituary
Maria Lourdes Aranas Abasta, age 69, passed away peacefully on Monday October 16, 2023 at Kaiser San Francisco with her family by her side.
Maria, who also went by Marilou and Lourdes to friends and family, was born on October 26, 1953 in Manila, Philippines and was the eldest of 3 children. She graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a degree in Nutrition, and then worked at the El Grande hotel, where she met her future husband, Wilfredo Abasta. They married in 1978 and moved to the United States in 1983 to provide a better life for their family. While there, she found her calling as a caregiver, providing care to her clients for almost 30 years.
She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, watching them play the piano and practicing their sports. She was an avid gardener, growing various fruit plants and orchids in her backyard. During her free time, she enjoyed taking trips to the casinos with her son and husband, where she always shared her life stories during the ride there.
Maria is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Wilfredo Abasta; sons William (Billy) and Luisito (Louie)/(Shirley); two grandchildren; siblings Beth and Boyet.
A funeral service will be held at Skylawn Memorial Park on November 5, 2023 at 10:30am.
