She was immediately taken to Mills-Peninsula Hospital where she received extraordinary and warm care, and our family is incredibly grateful to the Foster City responders and staff who assisted her. We’re grateful that it was His will that she pass quickly and painlessly, where she joins her husband and love Felix Luaces. Our “Ita” lived a long and happy life despite many challenges. As a young girl she was a horseback rider and a farmer’s daughter. As a young woman she dedicated herself to teaching and educating. As a mother she would find herself a young widow in a new country, rebuilding a life for her family. Finally, as a grandmother to many, she was tireless and joyful. She enjoyed a glass or two of wine. Maria leaves behind a family deeply devoted to her memory – she leaves her brother, sister and daughter, her son-in-law, and her two grandchildren that will never forget her energy and kind spirit.
