She was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman and always led by example. There was never a job too large or too small that she would not tackle. She raised her 4 sons on her own and although she wasn’t educated herself, she put them all through college. She spent the majority of her life as a vendor in the markets of Managua and was always on the move hustling and bustling, trying to make a living in a tough and poverty stricken environment. She was a proud woman of extreme integrity and a devout Roman Catholic who was always willing to help others and stand up for what is right.Maria spent the latter part of her life in the United States where she joined her two sons Francisco and Guillermo, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, most of who she also helped raise. She enjoyed cooking and teaching others the many ways of enjoying and celebrating her native cuisine. Her favorite pastimes included sharing stories of old Nicaragua, keeping up with and discussing the news around the world and watching her favorite novelas.Maria lived a long and fruitful life and touched the lives of many, including her family and others who were fortunate enough to get to know her. She was a very genuine person with an inspiring personality who will forever live on in our hearts and minds. We love her and we will miss her every day.Funeral Services will be held at Our Lady of Angels in Burlingame on April 11, 2019 at 11:00 am
