Margarita J. Millward's Obituary
Margarita Julia Ruiz Millward passed away on Dec. 27, 2014. She was born on Columbus Day, Oct.12, 1931 to Angelo and Eulalia (Rivera) Ruiz. She spent her early years growing up in San Bruno and West Sacramento on the Rivera Family farm with her beloved grandparents and many uncles, aunts and cousins.She graduated from San Mateo High School about 1949. Following, she worked at the family restaurant, The Club Pheasant, in West Sacramento, MetLife in San Francisco and Bethlehem Steel in South San Francisco. One of her first travels was on the Lurline to Hawaii where her love of the Hawaiian Islands began.In 1957, she married Aldo Germano. They lived in San Luis Obispo for a short time while Aldo studied engineering and she worked at Bank of America until he graduated from CalPoly. Eventually, they settled in Redwood City, Ca where she remained following his death in 1974; working at United Airlines for 22 years until her retirement in 1998. On Sept 2, 1978, she married Geoffrey C. Millward, and became a loving wife to Geoffrey and mother to Matthew and Victoria.She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was sealed to her husband in the Oakland Temple. During their 36 years together, they enjoyed traveling especially to their ancestral lands of Australia and Spain plus many other destinations. She also enjoyed painting, gardening of orchids, cooking and home-decorating; always a gracious hostess of visiting relatives and making family celebrations special.She had a sweet demeanor and was always devoted to her husband, Geoffrey.She will be laid to rest at Skylawn Memorial Park on Jan. 2, 2015.She is survived by her husband, Geoffrey Millward of Redwood City, their children Matthew and Kimberli (Bryant) Millward of Kauai, Hi and Victoria Millward of Redwood City, her grandson Lucas Millward of Munich, Germany, her younger sister Elaine (Ruiz) Rogers, nephew James Rogers, niece Jennifer Rogers, sister-in-law Lily Germano of South San Francisco, brother-in-law Leo Germano of San Francisco, nephews and nieces, John and Rosemary Germano, Kevin and Cathy (Germano) Kornegay all of Los Altos, uncle and aunt Pete and Flora Palamidessi of Millbrae, cousins Mr. and Mrs. Ron Rivera of Sacramento, Mary E. and Roger Snell of Fair Oaks, and June and Matthew Jurich of Sacramento; plus many more family and friends throughout California, Utah, Spain, Australia and Germany.She will be missed by all.
