Margaret E. Rockwood's Obituary
Margaret Ellen Loyd Rockwood, age 82, died peacefully on December 12, 2018 after a 2-year struggle with ovarian cancer. Margaret was born July 4,1936, in Goodland, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer J. Loyd and Mabel J. Ayers. She was the tenth of a total of twelve children.Margaret attended Springfield Bible College and during her time there she also recorded and traveled in a gospel choir throughout the United States. She was a published poet and enjoyed watercolor painting. Another favorite hobby was crocheting. She kept many warm with her beautiful hats and scarves. She also enjoyed gardening and grew many beautiful flowers, roses, zinnias and mums were among her favorites. She had a wonderful wit and wisdom and kept many laughing with her wonderful stories. She loved animals and had several cats and dogs throughout the years and rescued and doctored many a fallen bird.She had an abiding faith and love in Jesus Christ, and always an unconditional love for her children and grandchildren, whom she adored and was so very proud of.Margaret is survived by her son Mark Rockwood (Dede); daughters, Linda Rockwood (Matt) and Karen Rockwood-Carlton (Greg); grandchildren, Christopher Smith (Xanna), Spencer Smith, Lilly Rockwood- Lasher (Paul) and Cody Rockwood; companion, James Gorman, faithful friends, Sophie Fox, Harriet Kutzman, Bill Greer and sisters, Elma Clark, Sharon Boudreaux and Maxine Anderson. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.There will be a private graveside service for family and friends on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 11:00 am at Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Highway 92 at Skyline Blvd., San Mateo, CA.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN.
