Margaret Dedascalou's Obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Margaret Dedascalou(Dai Yun Lee), whose generous spirit touched countless lives. Born in Suzhou, China in 1928 she passed on March 11, 2026.
She went to school to study silkworm technology since her family owned a silk factory in Suzhou, the hub for silk garments sold worldwide.
She escaped the Japanese invasion by fleeing to Danyang, a city 60 miles from Suzhou where the family palace existed. She was confronted with the communist takeover of China and once again was able to escape to Taiwan. There, because of her Chinese acumen she became editor of the Chinese newspaper for a two-year stint. In 1961 She arrived in San Francisco where she met her future husband, Steve. She worked her way up in Crocker bank, becoming Assistant Vice President and having 82 people under her.
She was happily married for 63 years to Steve, but children did not come their way.
