Margaret Cozakos' Obituary
Margaret was born on June 4, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph and Lydia (Maxwell) Humphrey. She had two brothers, Joseph, and Robert, and three sisters, Melva (Maupin), Doris (Isenhour), and Bonnie (Flint), all who predeceased her.She lived through the great depression as a child and then World War II after high school.She graduated in 1941 from West High School, Salt Lake City, Utah and participated in sports, playing the violin in the orchestra, clubs, and theater. In her youth, she learned her skill at baking from working at Woolworth’s.In 1943 she married Alex Cozakos and had three children, George (Brent), Richard, and Pamela. Her husband Alex was at Pearl Harbor in the U.S. Navy, which he was just leaving when it was attacked in 1941. He immediately joined the Army, in which he served for the duration of World War II.She divorced in 1973 and purchased her home in Burlingame later that year. She worked as the building manager, custodian, and many odd jobs long into retirement.Margaret is predeceased by her son George (Brent). She is survived by her son Richard (wife, Evelyn) and daughter Pamela.She was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in San Mateo and was active in activities supporting homeless families.She will be deeply missed by them as well as by her many nieces, nephews, their children and grandchildren. Especially close to her were her niece Charlene and her husband Harvey Peterson.A celebration of life will be held for Margaret Cozakos on Saturday, May 4, 2019 beginning at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 1501 S El Camino Real, San Mateo, California 94402In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 1501 S El Camino Real, San Mateo, California 94402
