Mardell Rogers' Obituary
Mardell Laverne Rogers was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at her home in Rocklin, California.The oldest of four girls, Mardell was born December 8, 1930 in Arenzville, Illinois, a small farming community, the daughter of Herbert and Verna (Roegge) Tegeder. She was baptized in Christ on December 31, 1930. Mardell was a 1948 graduate of Arenzville High School. After High School, she left for adventure in the big city of Chicago to work for TWA as a teletype operator. Later, she transferred to San Francisco where she met Jimmie Rogers. They were married on July 9, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlingame, California. They settled in San Bruno and had two children, Karen and Matthew before moving to San Carlos.Mardell remained in San Carlos until she was no longer able to live alone. She moved to Roseville to be closer to her daughter, Karen, who cared for her over the past several years as her health continually declined.She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Redwood City, California for many years, where she was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, organizing Mother Daughter Banquets, Rummage Sales, and helping with the Senior Life Enrichment group. You could often find her in the kitchen on Sunday mornings. When she moved to Roseville, she became a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Rocklin.Her husband, Jimmie Rogers preceded her in death on January 3, 1999. Also preceding her were her parents and sister, Juanita. Surviving are her children, Karen (Jeff) Baughman and Matthew (Julie) Rogers; two grandchildren, Arianna Rogers and Alec Rogers; two sisters, Marilyn Werries and Shirley Lukeman and many nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on April 8, 2018 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Rocklin. Burial will be at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo. Memorials can be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
