Man Ying Yan's Obituary
Man Ying Yan (甄文英) passed away peacefully on early Saturday morning at 5:05am, March 20, 2021 in his loving home in San Francisco, California. He was 80 years of age.
Man Ying was born on June 12, 1940 in Kaiping, Guangzhou Province, China to Kwok Poon Yan and Chui Ngan Yu. He moved to Guangzhou City to attend high school and college with the intention of becoming a teacher.
Before he finished college, Man Ying moved to Hong Kong to reunite with his parents where he later married his
wife Suk Ha in 1968.
In Hong Kong, Man Ying worked in both the textile and ship making industries until he and his family immigrated to the United States in 1984. After landing in San Francisco, Man Ying trained and quickly found work as a building maintenance worker in the Mei Lun Yuen senior housing apartments in Chinatown until his retirement after more than 33 years on the job. At Mei Lun Yuen, Man was beloved by residents as he was friendly and helpful to everybody. Man’s parents Kowk Poon and Chui Ngan were once residents at Mei Lun Yuen as well.
Man Ying is survived by his wife Suk Ha Yan, sister Yan Xia Zhen, sister Xue Xia Zhen and her husband Bing Guang Huang, brother Sherman Yan and his wife Alice Yan, his son Bryce Yan and daughter-in-law Monica Faye
and their daughters Fara Yan and Chloe Yan, his daughter Helena Yan and son-in-law Dennis Pu and their son Hugo Pu.
A private viewing/visitation and a private funeral service for family will be held on Thursday, April 1st at 10am and 11am respectively. The 11am funeral service will be available with live virtual streaming for all. Please see zoom link details below.
