Luen Yee Lam's Obituary
Luen Yee (Mary) Lam was an amazing seamstress, a great cook, a wise friend, a loving wife and sister, a devoted parent and a proud grandparent. She was blessed to have a sharp mind for her entire life, which allowed her to build many lasting friendships, stay connected to family members and offer advice. She was also blessed with leadership skills, formed by her role as a big sister and enhanced by her energy and determination. She filled her life surrounded by people and activities.In recent years, she overcame physical challenges with grace and determination. She was unselfish, appreciative of life’s gifts and enjoyed many small pleasures – sitting on a beach, seeing her grandchildren in person and in photos enjoying a good meal or watching the news of the world.Her intelligence and humor will be sorely missed by friends and family here and abroad who enjoyed her company and depended upon her strength.She was born in 1939 in Canton, China and ultimately moved to San Mateo, California with her husband Raymond Lam and her two children Lisa and Victor. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, Kaia Lam, Kellen Lam and Evan Segall, daughter in law Kristine Lam and son in law Matt Segall. She passed peacefuly on May 1, 2015 at Kaiser hospital in San Francisco, following a visit by her daughter that morning.There will be a service held at Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park on Friday, May 8th at 11:00 AM, followed by a brief graveside ceremony. Reception to follow at 12:30 at Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park
