Lotty Fuentes' Obituary
Lotty Fuentes was born Lotty Gütlin in Basel, Switzerland on August 17th, 1926 to Emil Gütlin and Hedwig Wagner, who immigrated to Switzerland from the Black Forest region in Germany. She was the youngest of three siblings, with an older brother named Emil and sister named Heidi.After her parents passed away in their early forties, Lotty entered an orphanage, where she met her lifelong dear friend Lili. After turning 18, she worked for the French-Swiss for a time before becoming a governess and moving to England, and eventually Sweden. A short while later, the family she worked for transferred her to Woodside, California where she worked for the Chamberlain family. It was while she was working for them that she met grounds gardener John Fuentes, who set her up with her future husband (and his son), Joe Fuentes. Lotty and Joe married in 1952, eventually having three children. They were married for nearly 53 years until Joe passed in 2005.Lotty worked at Raychem as a supervisor for twenty years, retiring at the age of 60.She is survived by her two children, Mary Fuentes & Doreen Smith, and outlived her son, John Fuentes, by one month. She also dearly loved her grandchildren, Garrett Fuentes, and Monique Hernandez-Fuentes.Her hobbies were gardening, her Messiah Lutheran Church community and reading about her beloved homeland of Switzerland. She also enjoyed crochet, sewing, cooking and British comedies such as Are You Being Served? and Keeping Up Appearances.She was much loved by her family and will be forever missed.
