Lillie Herron's Obituary
Lillie Mae Brown Herron was born on September 5, 1936, in Greenville, MS, to Robert and Magnolia Brown who both preceded her in death.While growing up in Mississippi she attended Gentry High School in Indianola. She moved to California, where she embarked upon a modeling career and appeared in many shows. Her first modeling job was overseas in Japan.Lillie met, fell in love with, and married the love of her life, Floyd Herron, on Friday, December 13, 1963. Floyd loved everything about Lillie, and spent the next 54 years taking pride, and experiencing joy, in making her happy.Lillie worked at Koret of California for 30 years, and subsequently retired again from New York Fabric 5 years later.She faithfully attended Third Baptist Church of San Francisco, under the leadership of Pastor Amos C. Brown, for 55 years until her health failed.Lillie’s hobby was sewing. She spent hours at her sewing machine, creating everything from fashionable outfits that she wore in shows to draperies and upholstery. She loved to bowl, and won a few tournaments.Lillie loved to travel. She visited destinations near in the United States, and far away such as Israel and Egypt.Her favorite pastime was visiting with friends, especially her Road Runner Club mate, Evelyn Lockhart.Lillie leaves to mourn her passing: her beloved husband of 54 years, Floyd Herron; son, Melvin (Regina) Brown, of Chicago; daughter, Sara (Tim) Miller, of Auburn, WA; brothers and sisters, Josephine Brown, of Jacksonville, FL, Ceola Little Brown, of Greenville, MS, Robert (Mayliese) Brown, of Chicago, Samuel Lee (Willise) Brown, of Atlanta, GA, Vera Brown Scott, of Greenville, MS, Catherine Brown, of Chicago, and 4 sister-in-laws and 4 brother-in-laws. Her sister, Ruther Brown Mattox, preceded her in death. Also left to mourn are: Aunt Elnora Athalone (99), of Chicago, IL; 3 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
