Lee, Connie's Obituary
Connie Chung Ja Lee was born Oct 1929 in Seoul South Korea. She was from a family of seven children, and was the sixth of seven. She grew up with music and traveling. They spent their school year in the city, and their summers down south at the beach. Connie was educated and spoke four languages. She worked as a translator for CBS News. After the Korean War broke out, hardship hit the family. At the time Connie and her younger sister were considered the ones who would not benefit from an elite Japanese education. She was sent to Missouri to Cottey College, and Kathy went to college in New Hampshire. In 1958 Connie met and married Bob Lee, an American-born Korean raised in Hawaii. They had three children: Edward, Jennifer, and David in San Francisco. They did their annual vacations to Yosemite and Disneyland, and visited Tahoe often. Connie moved her family to the suburbs of San Mateo in the 70’s, and started teaching English as a second language to elementary school children. After she sent her kids through college, she and her sister Kathy began traveling internationally and seeing cities throughout Europe and Asia. She was a much beloved and loving grandmother. Her soul rested with God on August 16, 2018 after battling Alzheimer’s. Connie was preceded in death by her husband Bob, and is survived by her children and by eight grandchildren.
