Lai Fong Chan Wong's Obituary
Lai Fong Chan Wong, 99, of San Francisco, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 27, 2014 after intestinal complications. She was born on April 15, 1915 in Taishan, China. In 1935, she was a founding teacher of the School for the Deaf, the first of its kind in Hong Kong.In 1940, she married Kai Man Wong at Holy Trinity Cathedral, Hong Kong. She and her family immigrated to San Francisco in 1967. Lai Fong was kind, gentle, and a dedicated mother. Above all, she was a devoted Christian. She enjoyed cooking, swimming, traveling, having her picture taken and spending time with people. She was predeceased by her husband and two of her children.She is survived by her children: William, Don and wife Cheerfield, Florence and husband John, and Wallace and wife Eva. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Rene, Matthew, Ethan, Benjamin, Ivan, Calvin, Wesley and Ellery.Services will be private.In lieu of flowers, please donate to On Lok Lifeways Senior Care Program.
