Dr. Kumudben M. Dave's Obituary
Dr. Kumudben M. Dave peacefully transitioned to Akshardham at the age of 85, surrounded by her family. Param Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj has given his blessings that she “is in Akshardham.”
Kumudben was born on September 25, 1940, in India. From an early age, she was known for her determination, intelligence, and resilience. Through perseverance and dedication, she overcame many challenges to become the first doctor in her family, dedicating her life to caring for others and serving society with compassion.
She married Dr. Mahendrabhai Dave, and together they built a home rooted in faith, love, and service while raising their two children, Hemang and Jasmin. Kumudben joined BAPS satsang in 1974 and devoted herself wholeheartedly to seva. She volunteered in numerous major spiritual events, including the Swaminarayan Bhagwan Bicentenary Celebration in 1981 and the Gunatitanand Swami Bicentenary Celebration in 1985. She was also a guiding force in the growth of satsang in the San Francisco Bay Area and played an important role in the early development of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in San Francisco.
She found great joy in reading spiritual texts, listening to bhajans, cooking for loved ones, and spending time with family. Her life reflected the values of seva (selfless service), samjan (understanding), and samp (unity), which she lovingly passed down to her children and grandchildren. She cherished traveling for darshan and was blessed to visit many mandirs around the world, including BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in London, BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, and BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardhams in New Delhi, Gandhinagar, and New Jersey.
Above all, Kumudben will be remembered for her deep faith, wisdom, warmth, and unconditional love for her family. Her gentle guidance, strength, and devotion touched the lives of all who knew her.
She is survived by her son Hemang and daughter-in-law Hina; her daughter Jasmin and son-in-law Dwijal; and her grandchildren Arpan, Anjali, Paisli, and Priam, who will carry forward the values and love she instilled in them.
Though she has left this world, with the blessings of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and Param Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj, her atma now resides in Akshardham, where she remains forever in divine and eternal peace.
