Kitty Yum's Obituary
Kitty Kitling Yum went home to be with the Lord peacefully with her family members around her on Friday morning, August 29th 2008, after a good 10-month battle with Lung Cancer. Kitty was born to Hin-Chow Wong and Ko-Yuan Ho on August 1st 1962 in Hong Kong. When she was 15 years old, the family immigrated to Honolulu, HI where she completed her high school and university education. Kitty attended the Nuuanu Baptist Church almost right after she arrived Honolulu and was baptized there in 1979. She had a passionate love for the Lord and served obediently as a choir member. Soon after she moved out to San Diego, CA she married to her husband of 22 years, Edward 'Ed' in 1986. Later she and Ed moved to Orange County, CA where they attended the Chinese Baptist Church of Orange County and the Chinese Baptist Church of Central Orange County and served as the deacon's wife. In 1999, they moved again to the Bay Area from Vancouver, WA and settled in Fremont where they attended the Silicon Valley Alliance Church. Kitty also attended the Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) classes and finished 7 out of 8 years of study stopped only because of her battle against cancer. Kitty was loved by many friends and brothers and sisters in Christ. She spent most of her time helping others on little things and always found time to be with her children. Knowing the fact that about 10 days prior to God’s calling her home, in her very frail physical state, with a very weakened voice, she expressed her greatest and strongest faith in her Lord and Savior with the words of that great Spiritual Giant…”Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.” (Job 1:21).Kitty is survived by her husband, Ed; son, Ryan; daughter, Mindy; her father, Hin-Chow; her brother, Phil; and sisters, Fanny and Carmen. A funeral service will be held at the Lifemark Center at Skylawn Memorial Park, corner of Hwy. 92 and Skyline Blvd, on Sunday, September 7th 2008 at 1:30pm, followed by a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Silicon Valley Alliance Church General Fund to honor the Lord for whom Kitty loved so much.
