Daw Khin Khin Gyi, aged 93, died peacefully at home in the presence of family and loved ones in San Mateo, California on Thursday, July 28, 2016.Daw Khin Khin Gyi was born 6th August 1922 in Myingyan, Myanmar to U Sein Tun (father) and Daw Ohn Yin (mother). She attended the University of Rangoon and Yale University where she earned her Masters in Asian History. She enjoyed teaching History at the University of Rangoon for over twenty years and later also taught at De Anza College in Cupertino, California.She married Dr. Kyaw Thet, and they had four children, Lyn Maung Thet, Khin Nyo Thet, Lyn Aung Thet, and Khin Aye Thet. She is survived by two children, Khin Nyo Thet (Lyn Swe Aye) and Lyn Aung Thet (Khin Mae Hla), six grandchildren, Lynn Lynn Sein, Mimi Thabyay Aye, Aung Lin Sein, Zaw Thet, Maya Thet, and Thor Aye, and two great grandchildren, Myetchae Thu, and Jax Thet.She is predeceased by Lyn Maung Thet, Khin Aye Thet, Htin Lin Shein, Kyaw Yan Naung Soe and Soe Haymar.A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Skylawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home on Skylawn Boulevard in San Mateo. Viewing at 10am. Memorial service at 11am.
