Khen Van Tran's Obituary
Santa Clara – Khen Van Tran, 63, died Monday, June 6, 2016 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Santa Clara following his battle with stage IV lung cancer.Born and raised in Bạc Liêu, Vietnam, he met his wife Hue. They married and left the war-torn country in 1979 for their new life in America. Before that, they stopped in a refugee camp in Indonesia where Hue gave birth to their baby girl Janet. After about 11 months, they would set sail to Singapore then fly to Wisconsin where they’d start their life in America with help from their generous sponsors.They moved to California after about a year in Wisconsin. Khen went to school at De Anza College to become a Machinist and had a 30+ year career where he worked long hard hours to give his family a great life. In his pastime, he enjoyed relaxing at home watching various sports especially football and basketball. He prided himself in being able to cleverly fix anything in the house that was broken and worked hard to keep his house looking beautiful.He also enjoyed attending the Center for Wellness in San Jose where he made a lot of friends and learned how to do Tai Chi and meditation / relaxation techniques. He was a dedicated student and attended class every day when he was healthy.He leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Hue Kim Hua Tran; his daughter, Janet Xuan Tran; his son, Kenneth John Tran; his grandchildren; and many close relatives and friends.
