Khalid Rumjahn's Obituary
In Loving MemoryKhalid Rumjahn Sr.July 3, 1950 - May 5, 2011Khalid Rumjahn Sr. passed away May 5, 2011 on a bright spring day at home in Reno, NV surrounded by his wife and children. He fought a long and courageous battle against cancer and never gave up even in his final days. He loved exploring new places, trying exotic foods, photography, karaoke and spending quality time with his family and friends. He managed to find humor in any situation, even joking that his cancer diagnosis was "a new diet plan." Born in Hong Kong to Sheik and Sophie Rumjahn, he had high ambitions to immigrate to the United States and did so at the age of 19 with a one way plane ticket to San Francisco and only $200 in his pocket. He had a variety of careers including owner of a Chinese restaurant, real estate agent, owner of a video store, President of APANN (Asian Pacific Association of Northern Nevada) and stock broker. He is survived by immediate family members: wife Lulu, sons Sharif and Khalid Jr., and daughter Aminah. He will be laid to rest in San Mateo, CA. He will always be remembered for his humor, big belly and courage. We love you and we will miss you Daddy!
