Kenneth E. Nielson's Obituary
Kenneth E. Nielson, 91, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2018 with family by his bedside.Ken was born on September 14, 1926 in Cleveland Heights, Ohio to Esther and John Nielson. He attended Cleveland Heights High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he earned two bachelor degrees from Kent State University and an MBA from Indiana University.Ken worked with the accounting group of Procter and Gamble for 33 years. During his last 22 years, he served as Treasurer at P&G’s subsidiary Hewitt Soap Company in Dayton, Ohio and as Manager of Cost Accounting for Folger’s Coffee in Cincinnati, Ohio.Ken was married to his wife, Miriam (Mimi) for 63 years, and together they raised a family of four children. He actively coached and/or supported all of the children’s sports and activities. In recent years, Ken and Mimi traveled throughout the country, and spent time with family in Ohio, Florida, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and California. His personal interests included photography, woodworking, reading, computers, music, and electronics.Ken is survived by his wife, Miriam K. Nielson and their children Mark (Susan), Brad (JoAnn), Dean and Gwen (Phil), and their grandchildren, Kevin and Lindsey.Ken is remembered for his great smile and friendly disposition, and as a loving husband, dad, and grandpa who went above and beyond for family.A private family service was held on June 20, 2018.
