Kenneth Yutaka Hanada's Obituary
Kenneth Yutaka Hanada passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, in San Leandro, California, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on December 15, 1948, in San Mateo, California. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ben.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Millie; his nephews, Kevin (Jhing), Arty (Xandra), Alex (Victoria), Nathan (Eileen), and Derrick (Chelzy); his nieces, Karen (Roger), Lauren (Edgar), Rachel, Maricell (Jason), Donna, and Dominique (Andoni); his grand-nieces, Hana, Aggi, Arya, Penny, Phoenix, Libby, Jordan, Marley, Ava Irie, and Kimora; his grand-nephews, Russell, Gianni, Dakota, Wilson, Caleb, Austin, Kamilo, Jason Jr, Julius, Malik, Kamal, DJ, and Christian; as well as many cherished in-laws and countless dear friends.
Ken earned a bachelor’s degree in Asian American History from UCLA and a master’s degree from San Jose State University. He enjoyed a distinguished career as a Human Resources Specialist with Pacific Bell, where he worked for more than 25 years. He also shared his passion for learning as a professor at both Cañada College and Ohlone College, inspiring many students throughout his years of teaching.
Outside of his professional life, Ken found joy in traveling, music, and sports. In his younger years, he played keyboard in local bands, and as a youth he was named the Most Valuable Player of the San Mateo Recreation League Ravens.
More than any accomplishment, Ken treasured time spent with family and friends. He loved gathering over good meals and engaging conversations, creating memories that will be cherished by all who knew him. His warmth, generosity, and friendship will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
