Kaylene C. Olsen's Obituary
Kaylene Olsen, age 85, of Sunnyvale, CA died peacefully on April 6, 2023, in Cupertino, CA.
She was born on September 20, 1937, in Detroit, MI to Ethel and Juel Olsen. After graduating school in Detroit, she relocated to San Jose and eventually settled in Sunnyvale where she resided for over 40-years with her husband Jim Edwards. She worked for General Electric in the quartz division for 34-years winning many top sales awards and making numerous lifelong friendships that she treasured. She retired in 1996.
During her lifetime, Kaylene had one great passion – golf! She and Jim were members of Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton for many years. She attended numerous golf tournaments around the country with her many golfing friends. She hit two hole-in-ones, something many golfers envy, and played in 16-Pro Am tournaments. Kaylene was once partnered with Lee Trevino which was the highlight of her golfing career.
In 1972 she received her private pilot license, and she became the first woman president of the Santa Clara Airmen’s Assn. Kaylene always said she flew IFR - “I follow roads”.
Kaylene is survived by her sister Joyce Olsen, nephews Randy & Ryan Jones, niece Rhonda DeWitt, daughter-in-law Dusty White and her 2nd family, the Sheltos. She was proceeded in death by her husband James Edwards, and sister Jean Jones.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on April 17th at Skylawn Memorial Park in Half Moon Bay, CA.
