San Francisco resident Kathryn Ann Shipp (Kat), 76, died peacefully May 30th, 2013 at her home.Kathryn Ann Shipp was born March 19th, 1937 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to BT (Red) Jones and Cora Jones.Kathryn graduated L. J. Rowan High School and in her teenage years she worked at her parents’ grocery store.She lived in Chicago, Illinois for a time before settling in San Francisco, California in 1955 with her mother, Cora Jones.She married Taylor Shipp in Reno, Nevada.Starting October 18th, 1979, Kathryn was a Teacher aide for San Francisco Unified School District for 25 years.In retirement, she enjoyed shopping, traveling, the 49ers, movies and television. She was an amazing cook. When she made Gumbo, friends and family would come to her home from everywhere.Kathryn is survived by her three children and in-laws: Bernard and Andrea Shipp, Franklin and Kasha Taylor, Byron and Teresa Shipp. Her grandchildren, Bernard Shipp Jr., Sheronda Shipp, Jarell Taylor, and Ashley Shipp. Her two nieces, nephew, and in-laws, Christine Hall, Margaret Ann Agnew and Valoise Ladner Jr and countless others that she loved and held her close to their hearts.Kathryn was preceded in death by her sister, Margarett Ladner, and husbands, Mitchell Gears, Taylor Shipp, Sam Gordon, and her nephew Tony Jones.
