Jovita Muega Balza's Obituary
Jovita Balza passed away peacefully at the age of 74 on February 20, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving and caring mother and Nana to her children and grandchildren. She will be truly missed in so many ways.
Jovita was born in Olongapo City, Philippines on September 15, 1949 to Asuncion Miguel and Romeo Muega. She grew up with her seven siblings, Mario, Myrna, Leonardo, Salvador, Luminada, Enrique and Anjenette. On November 24, 1968 she was married to Eleuterio Balza and welcoming their three children, Kathy, Beth and Joel.
Through her sacrifices, overflowing love and care she managed to make all her children finished their education, because she believed that education and knowledge are the greatest treasure that she can give to her children. In 2002 she immigrated and settled in Dublin, California.
She loves to travel to see and experience the wonder of the place, eat their local food and grab some souvenir. Cooking is her way of expressing how she really loves her children, grandchildren and son in law. She has her own style of cooking and dish. She also enjoys taking care of the garden, happiness comes upon her when she sees all her flowers bloom.
She took an active role in the lives of her grandchildren. Teaching Charles, Alex and Clarisse how to cook and always sharing advice on life skills. She always makes sure that when her grandson Xavier, son Ely, daughter Beth and Kathy, and son in law Willie arrived home from work. There is always food on the oven or at the table.
Jovita is a woman of faith. She always informed her children and grandchildren to always pray, and ask God for guidance. As what the saying goes, “When all else fails, ask NANA”. Because she’s always there to help and support. She’s also helping her mother, sisters and brother if they needed help, making sure they are happy and well.
Jovita was preceded in death by her husband Eleuterio, her father Romeo, her brother Mario and her nephew Reymond. She is survived by her children Ely, Beth and Kathy. Her grandchildren Xavier, Clarisse, Charles, Alexander and Bryan, her son in law Willie, her mother Asuncion and her siblings Myrna, Leonardo, Salvador, Luminada, Enrique and Anjenette.
“You never said I’m leaving, you never said goodbye. You were gone before we knew it, and only God knew why. A million times we needed you, a million times we cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place that no one could ever fill. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God took you home.” Author Unknown.
You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure, NANA
