Joseph A. Lawton's Obituary
Joe Lawton passed away at the age of 72 on Thursday, Janu¬ary 9, 2014 after suffering from a rapidly progressive disease.Joe is survived by his wife, Rosa Maria Lawton, sister, Barbara Stamps, and his six children: Donald Lawton, Lissette Lawton, Chris Lawton, Brad Lawton, Michele Filous, & Mike Lawton. He is also survived by his nephew, Danny Stamps, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.Joe epitomized the American dream. In 1965, he moved to San Francisco from the rural town of Lodi, Ohio seeking a better life. Along with his partner, Gail Ewing, he founded a successful wholesale food distribution called Lawton & Ewing Foods and South City Cash & Carry that once employed nearly 100 people.Joe’s greatest measure of success is the countless number of lives that he positively affected both in business and in his personal life. He was a mentor, friend, and role model for so many people.The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 15th at 9:30 AM at Skylawn Memorial Park.
