Joseph Fiore Di Vecchio's Obituary
1932 to 2016Despite high spirits and beating the odds multiple times, Joseph F. Di Vecchio, a lifelong Half Moon Bay resident, passed away at Kaiser Hospital in Redwood City. He was surrounded by his children and family. Joe was the oldest son of Ida Castiglioni Di Vecchio and Fiore Di Vecchio. He was 83.Joe, or Bep, to family and friends, grew up during the depression on a ranch in Half Moon Bay. Joe and his brother attended a one-room school house in Purissima. He graduated from Half Moon Bay Union High School in 1950. He farmed the family ranch alongside his father until the 1970s. After farming, Joe had a career in real estate and mobile home sales in and around the Coastside and Bay Area.He enjoyed traveling to Italy to visit relatives and friends. He was a member of Lucchesi Nel Mondo, a club that connects Italian Americans with a culture and history of Lucca, a city in Tuscany. The family fondly remembers Joe’s dry sense of humor and corny jokes. Dearest to his heart were family gatherings and celebrations.He is survived by his son Joe (Eva), daughter Nicolette, daughter Aimee (Dale) Price, son David (Heather), stepson Peter(Kathy) Scopazzi, his sister Jane Di Vecchio Koepf and niece Michele Koepf of Half Moon Bay and his brother Angelo (Beth) Di Vecchio of Grass Valley, CA. He was the beloved grandfather to Bianca, Kendall, Giovanni, Dalton and Melina and Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews.Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Joe’s Life on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Skylawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Highway 92 and Skyline Blvd, San Mateo County. Viewing 10:00 am-11:00 am, Funeral Service 11:00am to 12:00 pm followed by a Reception in Half Moon Bay at the I.D.E.S. Small Hall, 735 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, those interested may make a donation to either the Coastside Adult Day Health Center (coastsideadultdayhealth.org) or NorCal Boxer Rescue (NCBR.org).
