Joseph L. Chen's Obituary
Joseph L. Chen passed away peacefully in his home in Fremont, California on October 23rd, 2020, with his family by his side.
Joseph was born on November 19th, 1955 in Tainan. He is the second of three brothers. Joseph's childhood years were happy and active. He graduated in college with a B.S. degree in Marine Biology and served as a Weather Officer in Chinese Navy. After the mandatory military service he immigrated to U.S. and earned his Master degree in the University of Southern California majored in Computer Science.
Joseph relocated to Fremont, CA in 1993, where he remained for the rest of his life. Joseph worked as a computer engineer until his retirement in 2012. From this time on, he dedicated himself to caring for his elderly mother. Joseph never married.
Joseph is remembered as an intelligent and earnest man, a doting uncle, and a caring and loving son. One of his legacies is the kindness and love which he passed to people around him over the course of his life, and the strength and gratitude that he showed even while he battled cancer.
Joseph is survived by his two brothers and their families. He rests in peace and is reunited with his beloved mother and father.
