Josefina S. de Dios' Obituary
Josefina S. de Dios, 88, also known as Piting or Josie, passed away peacefully in the grace of our Lord on Monday, April 17, 2017 in Stockton, CA, close to where she lived in Tracy for the past three years with her daughter, Isabel and family.Josefina was the third of four children born to Francisco Bustamante Santamaria and Josefa Roxas Tagawa on June 18, 1928, in Manila, Philippines. She was an alumna of the University of Santo Tomas and St. Scholastica College in Manila. Before immigrating to the U.S., she was the Bridal Consultant at Rustan’s Department Store in Makati.Josefina moved to the United States in 1984 and lived in California ever since while working at Shreve & Co. in San Francisco for many years before her retirement. Josefina was an exceptionally talented ballroom dancer and was very involved in community activities at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Daly City.She was preceded in death by her husband, Florencio de Dios, Sr. (June 1977) and her two eldest sons, Jose Enrique (November 2011) and Jose Victor (September 2013).She is survived by her sister Betty S. Imperial from Vancouver, Canada; children Nanette and husband, Jonno Alcaro, from Charlottesville, VA; Florito and wife, Sansan, from Canyon Country, CA; Cecille de Dios and Gil Edeza from Manila; and Isabel and husband, Gary Yamada, from Tracy, CA; daughter-in-law Carmel de Dios nee Llamado from Manila; grandchildren Cristina and husband, Daniel Fernandes from Vancouver, Vincent and Marco de Dios, Patricia and Gino Aganon, Gabe and Micah de Dios, Michael and Laura Yamada, and Marion Alcaro as well as great-grandchildren Olivia and Violet Fernandes.Josie, who often said, “There is no greater love than a mother’s love” found great joy and peace in her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by many relatives and friends who loved her.A Memorial Celebration of the life of Josefina de Dios will be held on Saturday, May 13, in the Pacific Chapel at Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Hwy 92 at Rte. 35, San Mateo, CA 94402. Chapel doors will open at 12 pm. Services will be from 1-2:30 pm.
