Jose Ley passed away on January 10, 2018 in Walnut Creek, California at the age of 77.Jose is survived by his daughter Angela Low and her husband Terance; daughter Tina O’Hara and her husband Michael; son Edmond Ley and his wife Milan; grandchildren Tiana and Jaden Low, Drew and Nolan O’Hara, Matthew, Ethan, and Emma Ley; siblings Alfredo Ley, Natalia Yuen, Alicia Young, and Maria Leong; and many extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sze Wah (Eva); parents, Alicia and Alfredo Ley; and siblings Alejandro Ley and Dora Young. Jose was a loving father, husband, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.Jose was born on December 25, 1940 in China and moved to Mexico in the 1960s before he immigrated to the United States. He married his wife Eva on September 13, 1971 and built their life together in Oakland and Union City, California. Jose worked as a baker at Columbo Baking Company for almost twenty years before retiring in 2000. He provided unconditional love and support to his children and with his wife, they spent their retirement years providing daycare for their first six grandchildren.Jose loved fishing. He would start his day early to catch the “best” fish, often coming home with trout for dinner and extra to share with neighbors and friends. He enjoyed tinkering with tools, building creative gadgets that simplified his life at home.
