Jose D. Belen's Obituary
Jose ‘Joe’ Belen, a beloved father, grandfather (aka Lolo), brother, uncle & friend passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family in San Mateo, CA on May 7th 2022 at the age of 92. He was born in Bataan, Philippines on December 19, 1929.
Joe served in the Army of the United States in 1946, he received an Army Occupational Medal, a Philippine Independence Ribbon & later was honorably discharged.
Joe met his wife of 66 years, Carmelita Nery when they were both working at Utex & after dating for only a few months, they secretly got married at Marikina City Hall in 1956. They had four children; Marian, Ric, Maria & Cay.
Joe & Carmelita uprooted their young family from the Philippines & migrated to the US in 1972 & lived most of their lives in Los Angeles.
Joe leaves behind his wife Carmelita, his daughter Maria Fong, her husband Robert & their children Ryan & Maddie; his daughter Cay Irion & her husband John & their children Jonathan, Jordan & Julian; his sisters Leticia & Erlinda plus many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Joe preceded in death his step daughter Marian, son Ricardo & grandson Joseph; his brothers Fernando & Isagani; & his sister Natividad.
Joe will be remembered for his dedication & love for his family, his great sense of humor & love for playing golf.
